Sir Peter Maxwell Davies in Residence at New England Conservatory's Preparatory School Contemporary Music Festival

On January 30th and 31st, 2010, the New England Conservatory celebrated Peter Maxwell Davies with performances of over a dozen of his works, ranging from chamber music to full orchestral pieces. Sir Davies, who celebrated his 75th birthday in September, 2009, held a residence at NEC, giving a master class and coaching student ensembles in the performance of many of his works. The weekend marked the NEC's 20th annual "Today's Youth Perform Today's Music Festival," which has had composers-in-residence such as Alvin Singleton, Milton Babbitt, Martin Bresnick, and Gunther Schuller. Among the dozen or so of Sir Davies' works performed were his Sonata for Cello and Piano, Star Point, A Birthday Card for Prince Charles, Lullaby, Tecum Principium, and 5 Pieces for Piano.

The Festival's website can be found here with complete listings of performances and other events with Sir Davies.
