Han Lash’s Songs of Change Premiered by David Hahn and the Schwob Singers at Columbus State University

Mar. 06, 2024

On March 12, David Hahn leads the Schwob Singers in the world premiere performance of Han Lash’s Songs of Change at Legacy Hall, Columbus State University in Columbus, GA. Songs of Change is a work in four movements for mixed chorus and piano with texts by the composer.  Notably, the fourth movement of the work (“Orchid”) calls for an amplified soloist to sing while playing the piano, shaping the vocal lines with free expression "in a pop style" while the conductor and choir follow the dynamic contour of the soloist.

Songs of Change was commissioned by David Hahn, the Paul S. and Jean R. Amos Distinguished Chair in Music and conductor of the Schwob Singers at Columbus State University.
